Hello City View Families,
Last week our parent group had their first meeting, please see attached documents for the meeting agenda and notes. Next Wednesday, March 5 from 5-6 is the next meeting, and voting on President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary will take place. If you are interested in any of those positions please contact Trevor at [email protected].
PE Waivers – If your student has met one of the following criteria, they are eligible for a waiver to satisfy one semester of PE. 1) A full academic schedule with no room for PE, 2) Successful completion of ONE full-length internship. 3) Successful participation in ONE complete season of a school athletic program. Please see attached document for the waiver, your student can also pick one up at City View.
Wednesday February 26 Trevor will be taking our student council to Des Moines! We’re thrilled that our students will speak with legislators about education and share the unique story of our school. It’s a chance for our students to engage in real civic dialogue, learn firsthand about how government works, and advocate for issues they care about. We believe that by stepping into these important conversations, our students will gain invaluable insights and develop their confidence as future leaders.
Mock Trial will be competing on March 7 at the Hyatt Hotel and Conference Center in Coralville. Our students have been working hard, and preparing their roles over the last couple of months. Mock trial is an awesome opportunity for our students to sharpen their public speaking, critical thinking, and problem solving skills in a simulated courtroom environment. You have a chance to support our students with a t-shirt purchase!
Reminder, no school Friday February 28!
Resource corner – Here is an education podcast I’ve enjoyed for years. If you want to learn about some of the ideas that have inspired the design and development of City View, this episode talks about Unbundled Learning Ecosystems in Colorado.
“…the state provides learners with opportunities to earn credits through real-world experiences, ranging from internships to independent projects, thus fostering a learning ecosystem that is adaptable to individual student needs and aspirations.”
