City View Families,
I hope all is well! Last week, we had another exciting week of learning at City View. Below are a few updates:
We are excited to announce our new partnership with the Big Picture Learning (BPL) network. BPL is a national network of schools that focuses on competency-based learning, personalization and authentic learning experiences. They will support our work in each of these areas starting with our internship experiences. On Monday, our board approved funding to support our new internship management system, ImBlaze. In the coming weeks, your students will use this software to select and reflect on their internship experiences. We are excited to engage deeply with you and your students as we place students in the coming weeks.
Good Standing at City View – As we begin to place students in internships, we will be focusing on ensuring all students are in good standing. Good standing consists of the following:
Academic: Students maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and on track with core credits to graduate.
Behavior: Students have 3 or fewer major behavioral referrals.
Attendance: Students maintain at least a 90% attendance rate.
Internship Readiness: Students complete a resume, personal statement, portfolio, mock interview, and score proficient or above on the working with others rubric.
City View is a choice for students who wish to go further and deeper in pursuit of finding their passion through authentic, competency-based, community-embedded learning through coursework and internships. These expectations are foundational to being successful at City View.
If students are not meeting these expectations, the following steps will be taken:
A contract and support plan will be initiated by the school based first quarter grades and measures (October 7, 2024).
If students do not make adequate progress to meeting these standards, a parent meeting will be held to discuss progress and placement options back to resident high schools or referral to Metro.
We are looking forward to working with you and your students to continue pursuing this work together. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Field Trip Permission Form – At City View, we will be going into the community often. If you have not completed your field trip permission form through Infinite Campus. Please reach out to Allie Klinsky ([email protected]), who can help resolve this in Infinite Campus.
