I hope you are well! A few points of celebration, emphasis and reminders from the week
Internship Readiness – 25 students completed their resumes this week! This is a great start. Please check with your student to make sure they are on track to be ready to start their internships! Specifically, students are working on their 1.) resume, 2.) personal statements, 3.) digital portfolios, 4.) mock interviews, 5.) ability to collaborate with others in preparation for starting their work experience. These five pieces will be requirements before we will place students in an internship. Please ask your student to see their work!
Freshman Field Trip to the Palisades – This past Friday, City View outdoor education, an Iowa Department of Natural Resources grant funded initiative, took a group of 50 students to explore the natural wonder of Palisades-Kepler State Park with the goals of exploring a beautiful state park minutes from Cedar Rapids and connecting with the natural world, all while building our capacity to work with others!
Student Government Elections – Student council elections will be held on October 2. This leadership team will help guide the direction of the school with the staff and administrators. Student government members will serve as key ambassadors to the community. If your student is interested, please see this link. Nominations are due by 9/20.
No school Friday. Friday, September 20th will be a teacher professional development day. Please remind your students!
