May 6-10th

This week at City View was Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrated by appreciating our teachers and providing them with breakfast on Tuesday Morning. Thank you to all the volunteers who provided food and supplies for this breakfast.

On Monday, the plans were announced for the next year at City View, which included the explanation of internships, Kirkwood classes, and the possibility of attending Iowa BIG. As well as a brief explanation for what the freshman academy for incoming freshmen will look like.

Also on Monday, students received more information on the upcoming exhibition night. The exhibition night will be on Thursday, May 29th, from roughly 5-8. Parents and community members are invited to come see the students present what their learning of the year and also what their future entails. More details to come soon.

The second to last week of school will be a spirit week. Organized by the student government they have decided on the following,

Tuesday, May 28th: Students Dress Up as Teachers (Vice Versa)
Wednesday, May 29th: Professional Dress Up
Thursday, May 30th: Historical Figure Dress Up Day
Friday, May 31st: Anything But a Backpack Day

May 13-17th

The magnet lottery is open again, open until the 31st, prospective students have the chance to apply to get into City View next year. Current students do not need to apply to be enrolled at City View next year, as this is only for incoming student.

Reminder to parents that students are fully responsible for charging and keeping track of their own chromebooks, lots have come to school dead, get lost, or get left in classes. Please remind your child to take care of their chromebook.

May 20-24th

This week at City View students continued the work for their exhibition night May 29th.

Next week is also our spirit week as an end of school celebration. Starting on Tuesday due to Memorial Day, Tuesday is Students Dress Up as Teachers (and Vice Versa), Wednesday is Professional Dress Up, Thursday is Historical Figure Dress Up Day, Friday is Anything But a Backpack Day.

Also announced, for over the summer: the Cedar Rapids School District has announced there will be summer meals given out at various locations across the school district. More information here: Link.

Finally, Memorial Day is on Monday and there will be no school. Please don’t come to school.

May 27-31st

This Tuesday was dress like a teacher day, both students and staff had fun and came looking slightly ridiculous. City View’s own garden club mulched in the front, sides, back of the building that made it look very nice.

Wednesday, City View hosted its first Exhibition Night. Thank you again to all the parents who came out to preview their student’s learning. It was also professional dress up day today and everyone understood the assignment and came dressed to the nines.

Thursday was dress as a historical figure and there were many random historical figures walking the hallways.

Friday was anything but a Backpack Day and there were a wide variety of “backpacks” today.

Finally, next week is the final week of school and the last day will be the Thursday, the 6th. That day will follow an early out schedule, so the same schedule as a typical Friday.
